Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment for individuals experiencing depression and related mood conditions that have not adequately responded to traditional treatments such as medication and psychotherapy.
TMS uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. These pulses activate underactive neural pathways and support healthier brain functioning over time.
TMS does not require anesthesia, does not involve medication, and does not cause systemic side effects commonly associated with antidepressants. Patients remain awake and alert throughout treatment and may return to normal activities immediately afterward.
- Non-invasive and FDA-cleared — no anesthesia, no medication required
- Designed for adults with Major Depressive Disorder who haven’t responded to standard treatments
- Uses magnetic pulses to stimulate mood-regulating brain networks
- Sessions are approximately 30 minutes; patients return to normal activities immediately
- FHE Health uses BrainsWay Deep TMS — the most clinically validated Deep TMS system available
Who May Benefit from TMS
TMS may be appropriate for adults who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder
- Have not achieved adequate relief from antidepressant medications
- Have experienced intolerable medication side effects
- Are seeking a non-medication treatment option
- Have ongoing symptoms despite psychotherapy
- Have comorbid anxiety symptoms alongside depression
All patients complete a psychiatric evaluation to determine medical appropriateness prior to beginning treatment.
Am I a Candidate? Common Considerations
TMS is generally well-suited for adults with moderate-to-severe Major Depressive Disorder, particularly those who have tried two or more antidepressant medications without adequate relief, those who cannot tolerate medication side effects, and those who prefer a non-medication treatment option.
The following factors may affect eligibility. All patients are screened prior to treatment to confirm candidacy:
- Have tried 2+ antidepressants without adequate relief
- Cannot tolerate medication side effects
- Prefer a non-medication treatment approach
- Have moderate-to-severe Major Depressive Disorder
- Have comorbid anxiety symptoms
- Metal implants above the neck (cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, metal plates)
- A history of seizures or epilepsy
- Active implanted devices such as pacemakers or deep brain stimulators
- Current pregnancy (discussed individually with your clinician)
All patients are individually screened prior to treatment to confirm eligibility. If you have questions about any of the above, our clinical team will review your specific situation during the intake process.
What Treatment Involves
For patients enrolled at our facility, the treatment process follows a structured pathway:
- Evaluation during residential care: Patients are evaluated for TMS during the residential level of care, where they are stabilized and prepared to receive the greatest benefit from treatment.
- Session schedule: TMS sessions last approximately 30 minutes and are provided five days per week, Wednesday through Sunday, between 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., for several weeks.
- Community referrals: This same schedule is available for community referrals receiving treatment in our on-campus clinic.
- Consistency: Consistency is important for optimal results. Patients are encouraged to attend all scheduled sessions and communicate with staff if conflicts arise.
BrainsWay Deep TMS Technology
FHE Health utilizes BrainsWay Deep TMS, an advanced form of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation designed to stimulate deeper and broader brain networks involved in mood regulation compared to traditional TMS systems. Unlike standard surface-level TMS devices, BrainsWay’s proprietary H-Coil technology allows magnetic stimulation to reach deeper brain structures associated with mood and emotional processing.
BrainsWay has been a leader in neuromodulation for more than two decades, with Deep TMS receiving multiple FDA clearances including for Major Depressive Disorder, OCD, and smoking cessation. The system carries the largest real-world clinical evidence base of any Deep TMS system.
Published post-market data from 1,753 patients demonstrates the following outcomes after a standard treatment course:
For many patients, the benefits of TMS continue to build after the treatment course is completed, often leading to sustained symptom improvement or remission. This durability is one of the features that distinguishes TMS from treatments that require ongoing daily administration to maintain effect.
Clinical Monitoring and Support
Throughout the treatment course, patients receive ongoing monitoring and support from our psychiatric and clinical team, including:
- Regular symptom assessments
- Treatment adjustments when clinically indicated
- Coordination with referring providers
- Supportive check-ins with staff throughout the treatment course
Treatment parameters may be adjusted to maximize benefit and comfort. Patients are encouraged to share feedback regarding their experience so care may be optimized. Psychiatric oversight ensures that treatment remains medically appropriate and responsive to individual needs.
Why Choose FHE Health for TMS
FHE Health delivers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation within a fully integrated behavioral health system supported by experienced psychiatric leadership, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary care teams.
Unlike stand-alone neuromodulation clinics, our TMS program operates within a mature clinical infrastructure that includes medical services, mental health treatment, and substance use expertise. This allows us to safely and effectively treat complex presentations, including co-occurring conditions and long-standing treatment resistance.

Our organization maintains accreditation and regulatory oversight through The Joint Commission, CARF, AHCA, and the Florida Department of Children and Families. These accreditations reflect our ongoing commitment to quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Patients benefit from coordinated psychiatric oversight, regular clinical review, and continuity of care before, during, and after treatment. Treatment plans are individualized, closely monitored, and adjusted based on clinical progress and patient feedback.
For more than 25 years, FHE Health has been dedicated to advancing and revolutionizing behavioral healthcare through evidence-based practice, innovation, and patient-centered service.
