FHE Health’s mental health program, Restore, treats your primary mental health conditions as their own dedicated track, and if you’re also managing a co-occurring substance use disorder, we treat both conditions together, focused on whichever is driving your most immediate needs. That includes depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, other trauma-related conditions, ADHD, eating disorders, personality disorders, and schizophrenia.
Your treatment plan is built around the level of care that matches where you are clinically right now, from round-the-clock residential support down to a few hours of structured outpatient treatment each week, drawing on on-site psychiatric care and medication management, evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT-informed therapy, and EMDR, and neurorehabilitation services including qEEG-guided neurotherapy, TMS, and neurofeedback. You can move between levels of care as your needs change, with the same clinical team supporting you every step of the way – the sections below walk through what each level actually involves.

Levels of Care at FHE in Deerfield Beach
With mental health treatment at FHE Health, you move through whichever level of care matches where you are clinically, and that level can shift as you do. Beyond therapy sessions and medication, your care at every level also draws on a broader set of medical and wellness services, including medical integration that coordinates your physical and mental health care under one team, ketamine infusion therapy for certain treatment-resistant conditions, and IV vitamin therapy to support your physical recovery alongside clinical treatment.
Residential Mental Health Treatment
If you are dealing with intense mental health symptoms, our structured, live-in setting gives you the constant clinical presence needed to stabilize safely. Our residential treatment pairs this round-the-clock support with the same clinical depth used across the rest of our program, including dual diagnosis care, motivational interviewing, and family therapy when it’s part of your treatment plan.
Your residential care includes:
- 24/7 clinical support on FHE Health’s Deerfield Beach campus
- Neurorehabilitation services woven into the treatment plan
- Dual diagnosis care if you have a co-occurring substance use disorder
You typically move into this level of care when daily life has become difficult to manage safely on your own, and step down to outpatient treatment once that stability is in place.
Outpatient Mental Health Treatment (PHP & IOP)
Outpatient care gives you structure and clinical support without requiring a live-in stay. This is a great option if you don’t need 24/7 supervision but still benefit from a defined treatment schedule. We offer this through two levels – partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) – with our Behavioral Health IOP meeting Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on the Deerfield Beach campus.
Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
PHP gives you structured treatment during the day without requiring you to live on campus full-time – making it a common step down from residential care once you’re stable enough not to need 24/7 supervision.
Here’s a fuller picture of what PHP actually involves:
| PHP Element | What It Looks Like | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Daily structure | A full day of intensive group and individual therapy | Keeps the intensity of residential-level programming without an overnight stay requirement |
| Evenings | Spent back home or in supportive housing on campus | Gives you a chance to practice what you’re working on in a lower-pressure setting |
| Wellness support | Fitness and nutrition services built into your plan | Addresses physical stability as part of your overall recovery, not just the clinical side |
| Clinical oversight | Your Restore treatment team stays involved throughout | Lets your plan adjust in real time as you continue to stabilize |
| Typical entry point | Most patients step down into PHP directly from residential care | Marks the point where round-the-clock supervision is no longer clinically necessary |
Our PHP works well if you still need substantial daily support and structure but have reached a point where round-the-clock supervision isn’t clinically necessary anymore. It gives you the intensity of residential-level programming during the day while starting to rebuild the independence you’ll need for life after treatment.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
IOP provides regular therapy and support while you live on or off campus. Here is how patients tend to arrive at this level of care, and what is actually involved once they’re here:
| IOP Detail | What It Looks Like | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Stepping down from residential | You’ve completed the most intensive phase of care | Signals you’re ready for a lighter clinical footprint while staying connected to your treatment team |
| Stepping down from PHP | You’ve built on the daily structure PHP provided | Shows you’re ready to manage more of your schedule independently |
| Entering directly as a commuter | IOP is your starting point, no prior level required | Fits patients whose needs match outpatient-level support from day one |
| Schedule | Behavioral Health IOP meets Monday–Friday, 1:00–4:00 PM | Structured enough to maintain momentum without requiring a full day on campus |
| Housing | On-campus (with or without meals) or off-campus options | Lets you choose the living arrangement that fits your situation |
| Access to services | Full access to FHE Health’s medical, neuro-rehab, and holistic services | Keeps you connected to the broader Restore treatment system, even at this lighter level of care |
IOP is built for the stage of recovery where you’re managing most of daily life on your own again, but still benefit from consistent clinical support to keep that stability from slipping. Whether you’re stepping down from a higher level of care or starting here, you keep the same access to the broader Restore treatment system throughout.
What to Expect in Treatment at FHE
Every patient who comes to FHE Health starts from the same foundation – a clear picture of what’s going on clinically. The path from intake through daily treatment follows a flexible structure tailored to each patient.
Your First Days at FHE Health
Before we begin treatment planning, our clinical team builds a clear picture of what you are dealing with, using validated tools and a thorough intake conversation. That groundwork shapes everything that follows, from your level of care to which therapists and services we involve.
That process draws from:
- Validated assessments such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7, Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale, and PCL-5
- Placement criteria, including ASAM and LOCUS, to determine the right level of care
- A treatment plan initiated by your therapist, with input added from other disciplines as needed
From there, your therapist develops a plan that may include neurotherapy, EMDR, psychiatric care, or other specialized services, depending on what your assessments and history indicate, giving you a starting point grounded in your actual clinical picture.

Getting Started at FHE Health
Deciding between residential and outpatient mental health treatment doesn’t have to happen alone. You might need the round-the-clock structure of residential care to get stable, or you may be ready for the flexibility of PHP or IOP while still living at home. Our team can help you sort out which one actually fits your situation, rather than leaving you to guess.
Because FHE Health is licensed to treat both primary mental health conditions and substance use disorders, we can also address co-occurring concerns within the same treatment system when needed.
