It’s a great way to practice self-love because it is like sharing secret thoughts between you and yourself. Counting your blessings is another way to practice self-love. Write down what you are most thankful for and you will start to see that your life does have value.

Help to Others- Start helping your peers in recovery. When you focus on the needs of others, your own problems will not seem as important. Additionally, when others have confidence in you, you will start to have confidence in yourself.

Take it Easy on Yourself- When you start to think negatively about yourself, turn your thoughts toward something else. It is imperative to realize that you are only human and that everyone makes mistakes. Focus on your life in the present and make today the best day that you can.

Smile- Just like any other behavior, self-confidence and happiness can become a habit. Force a smile and positive thoughts and they will stick with you.

Deal with your Thoughts- Delve into your negative thoughts and determine where they come from. When you determine their origin, you can challenge them head on. You will find that many of the negative thoughts that you produce come from your own paranoia and anxiety. Try to take a realistic approach to handling your emotions and do not assume what others think about you.

Meditate- Along with spending some quality me-time, meditating can take your mind to a peaceful state. In this state, it is easier to challenge your negative thoughts and work on increasing self-esteem.

Once you have mastered developing self-confidence you will find it much easier to be happy. Your view on life will be positive and you will believe that you can achieve your hopes and dreams. This includes your journey to recovery. With a positive outlook, it will be easier to deal with the negative situations that life throws your way. Relationships won’t be forced and people who take advantage of you will not be welcomed into your life. Self-confidence gives addicts a better chance of recovery success, and a better quality of life.
