RESIDUAL: Cumulative Trauma and PTSD in First Responders premiered nationwide in September with the help of FHE Health, which was asked to contribute its expertise. The 93-minute documentary calls attention to the mental health impact of high exposure to trauma, through testimonials from police officers, fire fighters, EMT personnel, correctional officers, and others.
In interviews with FHE Health experts, RESIDUAL also shines a light on some of the encouraging ways in which people are finding relief and recovery from PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. FHE Health Neuro-Rehabilitation Director Dr. Nicholas Dogris, Ph.D., BCN, QEEG-D, described the latest neuroscientific advances in treating anxiety, PTSD, depression, and other symptoms. Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Beau Nelson, DBH, LCSW, spoke about some of the promising results of these same treatments.
Numerous staff from “Shatterproof FHE Health,” our specialized treatment program for first responders, also contributed their insights to the film and appear in the film’s credits. They include:
- Dr. Sachi Ananda, Ph.D., LMHC, MCAP, who is the program director of Shatterproof FHE Health
- Annalee Moody, MA, NCC, LMHC, CFRC, the program director of our Intensive EMDR (“Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing”) program
- Lisa Loew, our integral breathwork therapist
- James Keefe, Residential Manager for Shatterproof FHE Health and a retired fire fighter
