Full-time residential rehabilitation programs are not your only option for drug addiction treatment. The reality is that many people are at the stage of their addictions where they can be referred to as functioning alcoholics or functioning addicts. They are using illegal substances every now and then or daily but have not suffered any severe consequences like being arrested or fired from their job as a result of their use. These are probably the worst kinds of addictions because the addiction slowly seeps its’ way into a persons’ life causing more tolerance for the substance and the idea that they can control their use so they’re not really addicted. The greater loses are seen over time as people come and go from their lives once they find out what’s really going on. If you’ve found yourself in this position then you’re lucky in that you haven’t lost it all. If you’re still employed and have income that you can fall back on then you’re able to look into going to day treatment programs for your addiction without drawing too much attention to yourself.
