5 Ways a Sober Man Is What Women Want

5 Ways that a Sober Man is what women want

Women tend to like men who are dependable and who can enjoy life with them. Some women also want to have a man who is successful. While these attributes usually aren’t associated with men who have an alcohol use disorder, there are men who have had problems with alcohol and gone on to be very successful.

There are an estimated 9.2 million men in this country who have an alcohol use disorder. Some of these individuals are people you may recognize. Daniel Radcliff and Brad Pitt are two celebrities who have been open about their struggles with alcohol and how they’ve had to overcome them. Taking a look at these men and how they’ve thrived might benefit you while you’re making your decision about getting sober.

Besides being able to look up to these celebrities, you can also think about the ways being sober may help you with women. Think about these five points that women appreciate about sober men:

1. Sober Guys Are More Confident

Alcohol gives people a false sense of confidence, which can seem nice at the time. That confidence often wanes when they’re sober. A woman wants to know that her man can take care of her and stand up for her. She wants to see that confidence exude from him when they’re together and even when he’s out with his friends.

A key to remember about this is that a woman’s subconscious is wired to think about reproducing. Her brain is automatically going to look for qualities in a man that would make him a good father for a child. One of the attributes most women appreciate is a man who knows that he’s capable of making a good mate and who can carry himself in an appropriate manner through all situations.

2. Sober Guys Don’t Have to Worry About Hangovers or Mood Swings

Men who consume alcohol often have to deal with hangovers when they start to sober up. That can lead them to become grumpy and unpredictable. It may also lead to them being ill. Women don’t want to have to worry about cleaning up a man who’s sick because of his own actions.

Some common symptoms of a hangover include:

  • Withdrawal: You may become anxious and restless, and you might crave alcohol, which can make you unpleasant.
  • Inflammation: This is a byproduct of alcohol consumption and can cause you to feel sick until your blood-alcohol concentration returns to 0.
  • Trouble sleeping: Alcohol changes the way the body reacts during the sleep cycle, so you may not sleep well and may feel fatigued and cranky when you’re awake.
  • Mild dehydration: This can cause you to have a headache, and it may contribute to fatigue and thirst.
  • Gastrointestinal upset: You may feel nauseous or have diarrhea as you detox from the alcohol, and this can continue until the alcohol is out of your system.

3. Sober Guys Are More Dependable

Being drunk comes with a lack of inhibitions. For some, this means having drunk sexual encounters that you might not even remember the next day. No woman wants to think that you’re cheating on her. Knowing you’re sober when you’re going out means that she won’t have to worry that you’re with another woman just because you’re drunk.

Women want a man who’s dependable so she knows he’ll be there for her. If you’re sober, she’ll know that she can call you and be able to count on you to help her with things or even just have a rational conversation together. You’re more likely to be able to be attentive to her needs if you’re sober instead of so drunk you don’t remember what you’re doing.

4. Sober Guys Are Better in Bed

Women want a guy who can please her in the bedroom. Some guys don’t realize that long-term heavy alcohol use can have a negative impact on their libido. Alcohol thins the blood, which can impact the man’s ability to get and maintain an erection because erections are controlled by blood flow to the penis.

You might have premature ejaculation or decreased ejaculation, both of which can leave you and her unsatisfied. Alcohol usage can also have a negative impact on the quality of your sperm, and it can shrink the testes. You may become impotent and infertile, so that may be a deal-breaker if your woman wants to start a family with you.

There’s also the matter of being cognizant enough to realize what you’re doing in the bedroom. Men who are drunk may act in a sloppy manner, which isn’t attractive to women. Your woman is going to want to feel love, and she’ll want you to show her the affection she needs.

5. Sober Guys Might Not Always Be Broke

Alcohol gets expensive, and the longer you drink, the more it will take for you to get drunk. Because of this, women tend to prefer sober men who are able to help cover things like dinner dates.

Always being drunk can also have a negative impact on your ability to work, which means you might not have a good income. Women appreciate a man who has a steady income, so you should be ready to give her that type of stability.

Ready to Get Sober?

You have to find your “why” to improve your chances of being successful in your journey toward sobriety. Whether you realize your lady will enjoy you being sober more often or you don’t want to experience the health issues of heavy drinking, you’re probably going to need help getting sober and staying sober.

Some men who are ready to get sober want to know that they have a strong support system. The counselors at FHE Health are ready to work with you to address your recovery from alcohol dependence or abuse. You can contact us 24/7 at (833) 596-3502 to get started today!
