This Father’s Day, we reached out to some of our alumni for their reflections about their fathers. We asked questions like:
- In what ways has your dad supported your mental health journey and contributed to your recovery?
- What are you most grateful for in your relationship with your dad?
- What have you learned about fatherhood, thanks to recovery?
The responses that we got back were inspirational. Catch them below.

For Those for Whom Father’s Day Is Difficult
For those of us who have troubled relationships with our fathers or no relationship at all, Father’s Day may be difficult. It may elicit mixed emotions, from feelings of sadness and loss to anger or relief. If that describes you, take some time this Father’s Day to engage in a little self-care, surround yourself with supportive friends, and/or find a way to honor your dad’s memory.
