Program Director of Substance Abuse Programs
Scott is the Program Director of Substance Abuse Programs at FHE Health with over 10 years’ experience working in the field of addiction and an educational background including graduate work at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, specializing in Human Development and Psychology, and a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA. Scott is also a Masters-level Certified Addiction Professional in the state of Florida. Scott has worked in a wide range of treatment settings, from community-based drop-in counseling centers to intensive therapeutic communities in the city of Boston. In 2013, Scott relocated here to South Florida to continue his work in the private sector. Alongside his formal education, Scott brings to FHE many years of “informal” education and personal experience, earned through his own harrowing battle recovering from the disease of addiction. Scott understands firsthand the despair and hopelessness of chronic relapse, as well as the unrelenting courage and faith needed to overcome this powerful, deadly disease. Still, Scott realizes that as much as having courage and faith is absolutely necessary, he nonetheless recognizes it is by no means sufficient. To this end, Scott embraces each person with empathy and compassion, while challenging them at each turn to face the addictive patterns of behavior and thinking preventing them from achieving long-term sobriety.
