Former NHL Star Shares His Battle With Addiction

Former NHL Star Kevin Stevens recently spoke at Brockton High School, not far from where he grew up – sharing the painful details about his battle with drug addiction.

“You know how many times I sat in these seats and said, ‘There’s no way it can happen to me?’” he asked, motioning with his gnarled, still-muscular hockey hands. “I’m a three-sport captain at Silver Lake, I go to BC, I’m on the Olympic team.

“You know what? It happened to me.”

In the early 1990s, Kevin Stevens was one of the NHL’s most feared scorers. He tallied 54 goals in the 1991-92 season, played alongside the likes of Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr, and won a pair of Stanley Cup titles.
