Justin W. Burns is a retired Religious Program Specialist 2nd Class Petty Officer with a distinguished career in the United States Navy, including dedicated service alongside the United States Marine Corps. His assignments aboard the SSN 750 Newport News, a Los Angeles class submarine, and with the Second Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, exemplify his unwavering commitment to serving his country with honor and distinction.
Following his military service, Justin continued his mission of service through his work with the Harris County Probation Department in Baytown, Texas. As a Certified Event Interventionist, he has provided critical support to individuals experiencing crisis, demonstrating his compassion, dedication, and expertise in behavioral health.
Justin’s academic journey reflects his continued commitment to personal growth, education, and professional excellence. He earned his Associate of Arts and Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Palm Beach State College and graduated with his Master of Social Work from the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University in August 2025. Justin is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Behavioral Health Management at Arizona State University, further expanding his knowledge and expertise in behavioral health leadership, treatment systems, and recovery services.
Beyond his professional achievements, Justin is a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. His courageous journey through personal challenges following his military service led him into long term recovery, fueling his passion to support others who are facing similar struggles.
Today, Justin stands as a dedicated advocate for Veterans and works on the front lines of the recovery community. His mission is clear: to help reduce the devastating impact of suicide and overdose among Veterans and to ensure those who have served our country have access to meaningful support, professional care, recovery resources, and hope.
Through promoting mental health awareness, advocating for recovery, and encouraging Veterans to seek professional support, Justin works to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction. His personal experience, military background, clinical education, and commitment to behavioral health allow him to connect with Veterans from both professional and personal perspectives.
Justin’s journey from serving his country in uniform to serving others through behavioral health represents a lifelong commitment to service. His unwavering dedication to Veterans, recovery, mental health, and community support continues to make him a passionate advocate and leader within the Veteran Recovery Community.
