It seems many of our young folks have a genuine passion for getting well. It has excited many of our old timers and disturbed a few. Passion ignites the heart in others and when I see new folks wanting to take the message of recovery and share with whoever will listen and get involved in service and our big book it is an experience I am glad I am not missing. Some of our old-timers and it just a few don’t seem to care much for this as they are set in their ways and seem to be annoyed by all of this. Many as I have stated can’t help but fall in love with our new folks. Surprisingly our newcomers are very respectful of AA’s traditions and singleness of purpose as well. It is really a treat to witness this.
Those of us who have been here for some time need to teach and lead by example as these young folks are our future.
I witness them looking to us for direction and attending workshops and conferences and getting involved, as we were told to do when we were newcomers.
We can’t be like “the retired business man who lolls in the Florida sunshine complaining of the sad state of the nation.”
Let us help and get involved and keep our sacred fellowship alive and exciting.
We are not a glum lot!
Blessings,
