Busy Weekend For Staten Island First Responders
Staten Island DA Micheal E. McMahon recently spoke out on Twitter about the growing opioid crisis that is rolling across Staten Island.
“Over the weekend, 7 people on Staten Island suffered a drug overdose. Two of them have lost their lives. If you or someone you love is battling addiction, please urge them to get help, and visit https://sihope.org/ for more information about addiction treatment services.”
According to the district attorney’s office, there have been 83 overdose deaths so far this year. In addition, there have been 175 saves.
There were 116 fatal overdoses on Staten Island last year, according to a report from the Health Department. There were 69 fatalities on the Island in 2015.
