See Who TV’s Dr. Drew Called Out For The Growing Opioid Epidemic

TV’s “The Doctors” Commend Blink 182’s Travis Barker on His Newfound Lifestyle

Blink 182’s drummer, Travis Barker is no stranger to headlines after surviving a harrowing plane crash in 2008. He lost two close friends during the horrible accident. Debilitated with anxiety and fear, Travis soon turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with his emotions.

“I was doing a lot of drugs recreationally, and I was living a very wild rockstar lifestyle before,” the drummer said on “The Doctors,” reports NYDailyNews. His anguish would twist and turn, one day even leading him to ask friends for $1 Million to kill him.

Travis quit prescription drugs when the doctors said, ‘You’re probably going to be on most of these drugs for the rest of your life because you went through such a horrific experience, and you’re dealing with bipolar disorder. You’ll probably never play drums again, you’ll never run again.” Then, in an attempt to prove everyone wrong, he found a new way to live.

Finding a Healthy Way to Relieve Stress

Travis was formerly suffering from Barret’s esophagus after decades of smoking marijuana. His doctor said he had the beginnings of what could turn into pre-cancerous cells developing in his throat.

“I literally had a joint in hand and he goes Travis, this is your warning shot. Stop smoking right now.” Travis responded with, “like right now?” But, he followed through and actually stopped smoking. Today, he has found a new, natural and healthy high.

Travis cites a new way to get high: Running, boxing and drumming. Healthier and happier than he ever was before.
