Sobriety is truly a gift!

My name is Ryan and I reside in the great state of Virginia.  A member of my work union highly suggested the Florida House at a time in my life when I felt hopeless and helpless.  I was reluctant to go to rehab but looking back it was the best decision I ever made.  Denial of my disease and thinking I was “different” was something I brought to treatment but left with a new perspective.  I was not so “different” and definitely NOT ALONE in my struggle with alcoholism.  I slowly opened myself up to my therapist and others in the group which started my journey to freedom and a new found life with the Addiction rehabilitation provided by FHE.

I left the Florida House and began my journey back in the real world.  I found an amazing recovery community back in Virginia.  I learned to listen and take suggestions from those before me.  I found a wonderful sponsor who started working with me in the Big Book and the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.  90 meetings in 90 days helped me meet a lot of great people and find a home group.  As our book says, “the removal of the drink was only the beginning.”  AA and sobriety have given me a new way of living and a life which I could only have dreamed of.  My relationships today are amazing!  I also been given the gift of working back in my chosen career field and recently was offered a position at my dream job.  I could go on and on but “living 1 day at a time” allows me to see and experience the miracles that unfold each and every day.  Sobriety is truly a gift!

God Bless,
